Bathhouse is a new construction of a high-end bathhouse in NE Portland’s Alameda neighborhood, built on the footprint of an existing 100+ year old carriage house that had deteriorated significantly. This building houses a large sauna, a steam room, a gathering space, sleeping loft, and a storage area for outdoor tools.

Clear cedar rainscreen siding in custom profiles highlight the exterior and conceal gutters and downspouts, resulting in a warm yet minimal exterior. The interior is clad in black-stained wood and reeded glass provides privacy from neighbors. A sleeping loft above and a kitchenette provides long term flexibility, while sustainable triple-paned European windows and doors ensure an acoustically quiet, thermally comfortable environment.
